Certified CDFI

In 2022, the U.S Treasury certified VFCU’s status as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). This designation is available only to organizations that have proven they provide financial services and products in low-income communities and to people who lack access to affordable financing.

VFCU is Southeast SD's only CDFI and only the fourth credit union in the state to have earned this designation. Granted with the purpose of generating economic growth and opportunity, CDFI Certification provides access to CDFI Fund grants, allowing us to expand our efforts to support financially vulnerable residents and communities.
